Welcome to the Hiker's Online Home :-) Øivind H. Solheim, the Hiking Author's Blog!

Oppdatert: 5. juli 2020

Today I’m starting a new chapter of my digital adventure. With a little technical help from my friend I will be able to finally get up and go my site, Øivind H. Solheim, the Hiking Author's Blog.

This site is about writing, and it is about hiking. - What's the connection between writing and hiking?

Writing:

creativity, imagination, setting a goal, inventing stories, search for meaning and fulfillment, focus on the self in relation to the world, defining a good life.

Hiking:

fresh air, physical effort, thoughtfulness, setting goals, taking care of body and mind, search for a purpose, creating the basis for a good life.

Both writing and hiking are activities that demand setting goals, targetting, work that elevates and makes the writer/the hiker advance and reach the goal, patient efforts to slowly approach the peak, the summit - the final result.

My literary production

Since 1978 I have published 8 books, the first four were novels, and the 5th book published traditionally was a poetry book.

The last year I have published two collections of articles and essays (2019) and a novel, Kindle eBooks and paperback. This is my Author Page on Amazon.

I’m a passionate photographer, an indefatigable hiker, a music lover, and a writer.

From 1974 I was a language teacher in Upper Secondary School, and from 2001 I was an adult education manager. Since 2014 I’m a full-time writer, a developer of online courses in creative writing, language learning (French for beginners), personal development, and relationships. I'm based in Bergen, Norway.

I write articles and essays on personal development, love and relationship, writing, nature, hiking, philosophical questions, mindfulness, the world, our future, and I still write novels, poetry, short fiction, and experimental texts.
